Kātantrasūtra

The Kātantrasūtra (a.k.a. Kalāpasūtra) is a foundational text of the Kātantra grammatical school, a non-Pāṇinian grammatical school in the Sanskrit grammatical tradition (vyākaraṇa). The Kātantrasūtra seems to be intended as a practical grammar — compared to the Aṣṭādhyāyī, it contains much fewer sūtras (around 1400 in number) and does not treat the Vedic language. The Kātantrasūtra is believed to be based on the Aṣṭādhyāyī. The author of the Kātantrasūtra is Śarvavarman.
